I always aim to minimise the use of single use plastic in my designs. With the exception of the odd cable tie to secure things I re-use all of my mechanics used in installations. I will never use plastic based floral foam because that stuff is just the devil!
I aim to use British flowers and foliage in my designs, season permitting. This means that your blooms will not have accumulated thousands of air miles and in general are exposed to fewer harsh chemical pesticides and preservatives (good for you and me!) If you’re flexible and like a wild, natural style it’s great to have an open brief in terms of varieties and colours to really take advantage of locally grown flowers.
Of course, the industry isn’t all or nothing, if you’d like to use specific blooms in your event I can absolutely source these internationally from our wholesalers. In this case I’ve committed to recycling the single use plastic that they are wrapped in.
I’m based in the Southside of Glasgow but I’ll willingly travel anywhere in Scotland and the North of England. If your venue is outside of the greater Glasgow area I’ll include a delivery and collection fee in your Initial Quote, this will be inclusive of accommodation and additional freelance assistants if necessary due to scale or location.
Absolutely, we can arrange collection from my home studio in the Southside of Glasgow. When you come to collect I will give you a handout advising of proper care for cut flowers, I also have a section in my terms and conditions which requires you to acknowledge the risks of improper care of flowers. I don’t recommend collection your flowers more than 24 hours before any event. In my home studio I can monitor conditions and act accordingly, this is definitely trickier if you don’t’ have the experience.
The flowers and foliage used are yours to keep. When I’m clearing up the venue the day following the event. I can leave buckets of blooms that still look nice at the venue for you to enjoy at home or share with your family and friends.
If you don’t want your flowers and foliage that’s also no problem, I can take everything home and compost it…my Dad’s vegetable garden will be delighted!
Typically I try to minimise my use of single use plastic but at your request if you want to gift full arrangements to your guests, or perhaps honour an absent family member by putting them on their grave I will gladly use plastic vessels or make this process easy for you.
